TALKING POINT #47
Did You Know? Vaccines Lack the same Gold Standard pre-licensure safety review standards as pharmaceutical drugs. Unfortunately, vaccines are not required by the FDA to undergo Gold Standard, long-term, double-blind, inert saline-placebo controlled trials to assess safety.
All non-vaccine drugs licensed by the FDA undergo long-term, multi-year, double-blind, safety studies during which the rate of adverse reactions in the group receiving the drug under review is compared to the rate of adverse reactions in a group receiving an inert placebo (aka: such as a sugar pill or saline injection.) Vaccines are generally not tested against an inert placebo.
