TALKING POINT #56
Did You Know? There are questions you should be considering before you book your next well-child appointment.
If You Vaccinate, Ask 8!
Am I or my child sick right now or have been in the last 30 days?
Have I or my child had a bad reaction to a vaccination before?
Do I or my child have a personal or family history of vaccine reactions, neurological disorders, severe allergies, or immune system problems?
Do I know the risk of getting the disease and the risk of taking the vaccines, for myself or my child?
Do I have full information about the vaccine's side effects and ingredients?
Do I know how to identify and report a vaccine reaction, even if it is a mild skin reaction?
Do I know I need to keep a written record, including the vaccine manufacturer’s name and lot number, for all vaccinations?
Do I know I have the right to make an informed choice, meaning I have the right to refuse a vaccine until I can research the package insert that includes clinical studies, adverse reactions, side effects, and ingredients - for myself?
If you answered yes to questions 1, 2, and 3, or no to questions 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 and do not understand the significance of your answer, you may want to explore information on NVIC's website to better understand the importance of your answer. These questions are designed to educate consumers about the importance of making fully informed vaccine decisions.
