One of the most appalling pieces of information that I learned while researching is that for some vaccines, like the Flu Shot and Hep B, the dosage for a grown adult is the same as for babies. For example, my 5-pound baby got the same dosage at just a few hours old, that a grown 19-year-old male would receive of the Hepatitis B vaccine.
Here is an example from the Flu Shot package insert: FLUARIX QUADRIVALENT is approved for use in persons aged 6 months and older. Ages 6 months through 8 years of age receive one or two doses, 0.5 mL each. If 2 doses, administer at least 4 weeks apart. Ages 9 years of age and older receive one dose, 0.5 mL.
